First Eucharist

The Sacrament of Eucharist (the second of the Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church) is celebrated for the first time by second graders who attend St. Jude School or P.S.R.  in May each year.

The students, who have been prepared at home, by their families, and in the classroom by their teachers and catechists, celebrate a number of other occasions enroute to receiving their "First Communion," including a special "Jesus Day" Retreat with their classmates and an Enrollment Ceremony through which the entire parish becomes vicariously involved in this milestone in the life of the children.

To assist parents in preparing their children to celebrate First Eucharist, a special session is held in January, at which the history, significance and giftedness of the Sacrament is shared.  At that time, additional information is provided about specifics of the celebration at St. Jude.

Contact Ann Chadowski, Director of Religious Education, for more information.

ANY CHILDREN BAPTIZED AT A PARISH OTHER THAN ST. JUDE MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF THEIR BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE AT THE JANUARY MEETING!
