St. Jude’s PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (P.S.R.) program offers instruction in the Catholic Faith and ongoing formation for parishioners in grades in grades one through eight, who attend Public School in the area.
Classes meet each Monday evening during the school year (September-May), from 6:15-7:30 p.m.
Each evening begins with a special Opening Prayer Gathering in Carrabine Hall (parents are welcome to stay !). Students then are accompanied to their classroom by their teachers, who return them to Carrabine Hall at 7:30 p.m. for pick up.
(Families are asked to please notify the Religious Education Office if a child is to be absent. A 24-hour Attendance Line is available at 440-420-2586. If no call is received and a student is absent, the office will call to confirm.)
In addition to classroom instruction, P.S.R. students have the opportunity to celebrate Liturgy together. Opportunities to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation are also offered during the Lenten Season. The year ends with a special “P.S.R. Fair,” at which each class displays the creativity and learning which has occurred in their room throughout the year.
Catechists are St. Jude parishioners who have answered the “Call” to share their Faith with the children of our parish. Opportunities to learn more about their own Faith — and how to most effectively convey it to their students — are offered to catechists through special in-service training sessions, guest speakers and attendance at Diocesan offered conferences and workshops. The volunteer catechists participate in Virtus Training and have undergone background checks. Most classrooms have a volunteer aid in addition to the teacher.
