Social Concerns Commission
This Commission provides, focus, vision and leadership in guiding the parish's response to those in need. This commission educates the parish on issues of social justice, advocates for those who cannot speak for themselves and provides opportunities to become involved.

Bereavement Hospitality Lunch
The Bereavement Hospitality is called into service upon request of parishioners who have had deaths in their families. The purpose is to provide consolation to the bereaved by providing a place and meal for families and friends after the funeral. Hospitality members are needed to cook and/or serve the meal on the day of the funeral. You would be called when needed. There are no regular meetings.

Bereavement Support
This ministry offers emotional, spiritual and practical support after the death of a loved one. Volunteers send sympathy cards and contact the family to see how they are doing. We coordinate with area parishes to provide prayer, support groups and presentations for those experiencing grief.

Food Collection
Food Collection provides food and necessities to the Salvation Army or the Hospitality House on a rotating basis. This occurs on a parish level the fourth Sunday of every month. Committee members are asked to help with collection and distribution of the food to the appropriate places.

Salvation Army Meals
The Salvation Army Meals are served the first and fourth Saturday of every month, and the fifth Saturday and/or Sunday when it occurs. One of nine teams prepares and serves the food to approximately 60-75 very appreciative people at the Salvation Army on West Broad St. in Elyria. Volunteers can choose to work as part of a team, 3-4 hours (usually 3-6:30 PM) at the Salvation Army, or be on call to prepare some portion of the meal (usually salad or dessert) and deliver it at the appro-priate time and place. Each team works 3-4 times per year with other volunteers called as needed. A list of substitute workers is maintained to also help out when the need arises.

Giving Tree Committee
Giving Tree provides gifts for the needy of the parish and Lorain County at Christmas time. The core committee meets from August through December as needed. People are needed for registration three to four weeks prior to Christmas. A desire to serve the poor during the Christmas season is a requirement for this committee

St Vincent de Paul Society
St. Vincent de Paul Society is a branch of a worldwide organization at St. Jude Church since 1988. The organization helps the poor with food, clothing, utility bills, rent, school books, medicine, etc... Committee members solicit donations since the local conference relies solely on donations from the parish. They evaluate every request from clients requesting assistance and carefully screen them so the money is spent only for those who have legitimate needs. The committee evaluates on the average of about 210 cases a year. They meet formally on the fourth Wednesday of the month and informally as needed throughout the month.

Pre-Natal Shower
The Pre-Natal Shower Committee organizes the collection of gifts and donations for needy expectant mothers who have chosen to give their unborn children the gift of life. Through the committee's efforts, parishioners are encouraged to realize the inner joy experienced when supporting and sharing with those less fortunate and by reaffirming God's love through His gift of new life. The Pre-Natal Shower Committee arranges four (4) collection campaigns annually with a follow up meeting after each collection. Donations are distributed through the Elyria City Health Department.
